Webinar on Breastfeeding Interventions

We are grateful to the 600+ participants who joined this event!
In this webinar, we introduced the Public Health Ethics (PHE) Framework for Breastfeeding Interventions, developed by experts at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine, University of Zurich, Switzerland. The PHE Framework brings together rules, standards, and guidelines from key international and national public health ethics documents, distilling them into nine guiding principles and recommendations. These are directly applicable to breastfeeding and lactation interventions.
The main aims of the PHE Framework are to:
- Support policymakers in assessing public health breastfeeding interventions that address the needs of diverse and vulnerable populations.
- Guide practitioners implementing breastfeeding interventions at national, regional, or hospital levels.
- Provide ethical guidance for evaluating the considerations involved in promoting breastfeeding and supporting breastfeeding women.
In this webinar, our speakers explored the newly published PHE Framework, sharing insights and case studies from international experts on its practical application. They helped us:
- Understand the framework – Gain a clear grasp of the PHE Framework and its nine guiding principles for breastfeeding interventions.
- Apply ethical guidelines – Learn how to implement ethical guidelines at national, regional, and hospital levels to improve breastfeeding support.
- Evaluate ethical considerations – Analyse real-world case studies to assess ethical challenges in promoting and supporting breastfeeding across diverse communities.
