New Publication Explores Digital Diaries as a Tool for Public Health Research During COVID-19

Researchers from IBME and SwissTPH have co-authored a new study published in the International Journal of Public Health. The paper, titled «Opportunities and Challenges of Digital Diaries for Public Health Research in Times of Social Distancing», was authored by Andrea Kaiser-Grolimund, Bettina Schwind, Laura Kämpfen, Anna Lea Morgan, Giovanni Spitale, Nikola Biller-Andorno, and Sonja Merten.

The study discusses the use of qualitative solicited diaries with digital technologies to gain unique insights into people's lives during the COVID-19 pandemic in Switzerland. It highlights both the opportunities, such as participant empowerment and real-time data collection, and the ethical and methodological challenges associated with capturing alternative narratives.
