Katja studied Midwifery at ZHAW Winterthur and finished her Master degree in 2022. She wrote her Master thesis about the experience of maternal self-determination during acute situations in labour. Her interest in the concepts of autonomy and self-determination in the specific context of labour derives from her practical experiences as she has been working as a midwife in different labour wards in Switzerland since 2016.

Katja is involved at the ZHAW with specific assignments (tutoring, practical exams, supervision of Bachelor thesis) and campaigns for improved working conditions for midwives in a task group.
