Dr. Felicitas Holzer and Ekaterina Muhl had a wonderful experience at the Hybrid Minds Conference organized by Marcello Ienca and PhD Georg Starke at EPFL Campus Biotech. The event brought together leading experts to discuss the ethical, legal, and social challenges of neurotechnology.
Together with PhD Marta Sosa Navarro (Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca), Ekaterina and Felicitas participated in the round table on "Neurotechnology in the Workplace," moderated by Dr. Christoph Bublitz from the University of Hamburg.
Ekaterina Muhl presented her research on "Neurosurveillance in the Workplace: An Ethical and Legal Perspective." Her work, recently published in Frontiers in Human Dynamics, explores the emerging practice of using neurotechnologies for workplace monitoring. Ekaterina's analysis of EU legal frameworks, including GDPR and the AI Act, provides crucial insights into the challenges of balancing innovation with workers' rights.
Dr. Felicitas Holzer delivered a thought-provoking presentation on "Exploring the Normative Concept of Neuro-discrimination in the Workplace." Her examination raised questions about the applicability of discrimination theory to neurosurveillance.
